For the first time since Stephen “tWitch” Boss died by suicide in December of last year, his wife Allison Holker is opening up about how she’s dealing with the loss and keeping his memory alive. The dancer spoke to People magazine in her first interview since Boss’s death.

Allison Holker Opens Up About Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’s Death

“No one had any inkling that he was low. He didn’t want people to know,” Holker said of her husband. “He just wanted to be everyone’s Superman and protector … It’s been really hard because I can’t understand what was happening in that moment [he died].”

Holker and Boss met in 2010 when they both appeared as All-Stars on So You Think You Can Dance. They got married in 2013 and welcomed two children together — daughter Zaia and son Maddox. Boss also adopted Holker’s daughter Weslie from a previous relationship.

“Stephen brought so much joy to this world, and he deserves to be remembered as the beautiful man he was,” said Holker, who launched the Move with Kindness foundation in Boss’s honor. The charity supports mental health initiatives.

Holker shared that “so many people — specifically men” have reached out to her since Boss’s death, telling her “how they were so affected because they didn’t realize how much they were holding on to and not expressing.”

Holker Says She Hasn’t Danced Since Boss Died

Holker told People that she and her children “lean on each other a lot for support” as they grieve Boss’s death. She shared, “I’m trying to teach them — and myself — that if you’re angry or sad, it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person.”

She shared that she’s left Boss’s things untouched in their home. In February, Holker went out under the stars to talk to her late husband, telling him, “I forgive you, and I hope you’re with us.” She said the experience was “so healing.”

One thing Holker hasn’t done since Boss’s death is dance. As she explained, “Dancing with him was so special, I haven’t danced yet. That’s gonna be a big step for me, but I know that I’ll get there. He’s guiding me on this path.”
