Longtime The Voice coach, country music legend Blake Shelton said he’s taking one last thing from the show after retiring. Shelton believes that the show “owes” him his red coaching chair, and that he doesn’t want anyone else sitting on it after he leaves.

Blake Shelton Wants His Red Chair From The Voice

Shelton’s final run as a coach on season 23 of The Voice is right around the corner premiering on March 6, 2023 on NBC. With his more than a decade tenure on the show, Shelton revealed he’s taking one more thing home with his retirement.

In a recent interview where Shelton revealed the location of his latest Ole Red, he believes that The Voice should hand him his red coaching chair. Shelton admitted however, that the officials of the show may not want to give him his chair, and may take a jab at the amount of money made off from the show.

“I feel like they owe me a damn chair though. I mean, who else can sit in my chair?” Shelton said. “It’s like the three bears, I don’t want anybody else sitting in my chair. I’m gonna try to get that away from them. Maybe I’ll have to buy it or something.”

He also informed the source that he doesn’t care if it fits the décor in his house, despite the fact that his wife, Gwen Stefani probably doesn’t want it there. Even so, Shelton plans to get the chair a spot on the house, since it “built the home.”

What’s Next For Shelton After The Voice?

Shelton is the last coach on The Voice that is present since its inaugural season, he’s retiring after season 23 of the show. A source close to Shelton spoke about the country singer’s plans, of directing his attention to other projects and parts of his life.

“He’s just focusing on other projects both personally and professionally,” A source said. “Blake will continue to focus on The Voice through the new season and also his new show, Barmageddon, music, his 2023 tour, and of course, his family and life on his farm.”

In the meantime, Shelton is giving his best at being a coach on his last season of The Voice. The season might be different from past seasons, though NBC hasn’t finalized anything as of yet. Season 23 of The Voice already began its live taping and can be attended by fans. Since the live taping for the show’s playoffs begin in February, and season 23 premieres in March, live voting will no longer apply since it’s taped in advance.
