Profession: Country Singer
Biography: George Strait is an American country music singer, songwriter, and music producer. Known as the "King of Country Music," Strait is credited with bringing a traditionalist revival to country music in the 1980s, which stood in stark contrast to the more pop-oriented sound prevalent in the genre at the time.
Strait began his music career playing with a college rock band before forming his own country band, Ace in the Hole. After several years performing in Texas, Strait signed a solo recording contract with MCA Records in 1981. His first single, "Unwound," became a hit, setting the stage for an incredibly successful career.
Over the course of his career, Strait has released more than 25 studio albums, the majority of which have gone multi-platinum. His impressive discography includes over 60 number one singles, more than any other artist in any genre of music. Among these hits are songs like "All My Ex's Live in Texas," "Amarillo by Morning," and "Check Yes or No."
In addition to his recording success, Strait has received numerous awards, including being named Entertainer of the Year by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music multiple times. His impact extends beyond his music as well, with Strait known for his charitable work, particularly in support of children's hospitals and disaster relief efforts.
