It’s Mariah Carey‘s world, and everyone else is living in it.
That was made obvious in the series premiere of “Mariah’s World,” a documentary series that she executive produces and stars in.
Viewers were introduced to Stella Bulochnikov, her no-nonsense manager; Anthony Burrell, her overwhelmed creative director; Kristofer Buckle, her go-to makeup artist; Bryan Tanaka, a back-up dancer and her rumored new beau; and finally Molly Angany, a klutzy assistant who is brought on for “Ms. M.C.’s” world tour and clearly won’t last.
Here are the five most ridiculous moments from the premiere (more ridiculous than her salmon and caper-only diet), and one ridiculously cute one.
Mariah’s outfits
Carey has always flaunted her curves, but for some inexplicable reason, she does all her on-camera testimonials in lingerie. One look is a black corset. Another is a lacy nightgown. “Is this a normal outfit to wear? I dunno,” Carey asks while lounging in her lingerie on a chaise. If that isn’t enough, cutaways feature Mariah in her underwear as well — almost as if viewers are part of a peep show.

At one point, Carey is dressing for an evening out and requires the help of four people to put on a pair of strappy heels. “Oprah told me don’t let anyone think you don’t know how to put your shoes on anymore,” Carey declares. “The problem is, these shoes are abusive and I can’t put them on alone!” Mariah seems very local to her squad though; make-up artist Buckle doubles as her confidante, and she later bemoans her hairdresser will not be on tour with her.
Mariah’s alter-ego
Beyonce has Sasha Fierce. Carey has Bianca Storm.
Storm is Carey’s brunette alter-ego who was introduced back in her 1999 “Heartbreaker” music video. Storm returns to “introduce” the docu-series, saying “I’m here to introduce a documentary about Mariah Carey. What do I think about that? F—ing riveting,” she says in a British accent. While Storm may look and talk differently than Carey, she does share the singer’s penchant for low-cut tops.
Mariah’s lighting
Mariah is a diva when it comes to lighting. At one point, she hurries along a fan photo session because the light is unflattering. Later, during a rehearsal in the middle of the night, Carey complains again. “I’m wearing these glasses because we’re in florescent lighting, and I have a rule that I will not be seen in florescent lighting without sunglasses.”
Mariah’s needs
Molly has the unenviable task of making sure Carey’s hotel suites are up to her standards. When she can’t set up an AppleTV in Carey’s bedroom, she begins to panic and cries.
“The Apple TV, that’s the most important thing. If she can’t have the Apple TV playing while she’s sleeping, then she can’t sleep. If she can’t sleep, she can’t perform. If she can’t perform, there’s no show,” Molly explains. “If it’s not there, everything else falls apart.”
Judging from the background shot, Carey also needs two humidifiers going throughout the night to protect her voice.
Mariah’s kids
If there’s one thing more important to Carey than her music, it’s her twins (with ex-husband Nick Cannon), Moroccan and Monroe. Carey dotes on her children. Even their nicknames are cute: Roc and Roe.
