Atiku, Okowa Others Arrive Uyo To Kick Off Campaigns Without Wike

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa have arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for the flag off of the party’s presidential campaigns.

Naija News reports other stalwarts and loyalists of the major opposition party have also stormed the state in readiness for the official kick-off of campaigns.

However, the campaigns are set to kick off without the cooperation of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his loyalists who have vowed not to be part of the process except their demand for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu is met.

Atiku, Okowa and others arrived in Uyo on Sunday according to information made available on the official Twitter handle of the PDP.

The PDP presidential campaign flag-off is scheduled for Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State by 10:00 am.

PDP Planning Last Minute Deal For Wike

Meanwhile, the PDP is set to present a fresh deal to the camp of Governor Nyesom Wike as the party officially launches its presidential campaign for 2023.

It will be recalled the face-off between Wike and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has been a major threat to the party’s fortunes in the 2023 elections.

However, it is understood that the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) led by Adolphus Wabara is set to make another offer to the Wike camp as part of efforts to bring them on board.

A source who spoke to Daily Trust on Sunday about the fresh move however all but ruled out the resignation of Ayu in the fresh move.

It was also added that the recommendation of the BoT which is an advisory body is subject to acceptance by the National Working Committee (NWC), Atiku and Wike himself.
